We have a very close friend and longtime customer in SERIOUS financial difficulty. We're trying to sell some boxed sets for the guy, separate from our store's business, to help him put some food on the table and pay some bills. 100% of the prices listed here are going to him. If any of you have some extra scratch and want to help an amazing guy out, please contact us (treehouserecords@gmail.com).
These items are for sale at the prices listed, first come first serve. If you want to make a reasonable offer that is less than the listed price it will be considered, but probably not until some time has passed. I'm trying to raise as much as possible for my man.
All of these are in Excellent condition!
1) “Vorbei…Beyond Recall: A Record Of Jewish Musical Life In Nazi Berlin 1933-1938” Bear Family 11CD + DVD (This is one of the most over-the-top, deluxe boxed sets I have ever seen. The book alone is a beautiful, hardbound piece that weighs a ton. Very rare. I could find no record of what this sold for when it was new, nor any record of what it has sold for since. OFFERS
2) Nat King Cole “The Complete Capitol Recordings Of The Nat King Cole Trio” 18CD Mosaic boxed set. (The vinyl of this set has sold for over $1000. I can’t find a listing for the CDs, but have to believe that the collectors’ price is comparable. Severely under-priced at…) $400
3) Ornette Coleman “Beauty Is A Rare Thing” (Rhino 6CD boxed set of complete Atlantic recordings, out-of-print.) $50
4) Captain Beefheart “Grow Fins” 6CD box (out-of-print, no need for hype, I’d imagine) SOLD!
5) Charley Patton 7CD box on Revenant (if you know about this and don’t have it, here you go!) SOLD!
6) “Beg Scream & Shout” Rhino 6CD box (collectors’ item, always goes over $100 on eBay. Killer soul, w/ well-known and not-so-well-known gems!) $90
7) “Sam Cooke’s Sar Records Story” (original long boxed edition, fucking GREAT!) $20
8) “The Blue Horizon Story 1965-1970, Vol. 1” 4CD box (nice overview of seminal and collectable UK blues label) SOLD!
9) Johnny Cash “Cash Unearthed” 5CD box $40
10) The Clash “London Calling” 2CD+DVD $20
11) Aretha & King Curtis “Don’t Fight The Feeling” Rhino 4CD live at Fillmore. (way outta print and collectable) $100
12) Delaney & Bonnie “On Tour” expanded edition Rhino Handmade box (A four-disc deluxe reissue expanded with more than three hours of unreleased stuff. The band includes guitarists Eric Clapton and Dave Mason, bassist Carl Radle, drummer Jim Gordon, organist Bobby Whitlock, Jim Price and Bobby Keys on horns, percussionist Tex Johnson, and singer Rita Coolidge. In essence, Clapton ended up stealing this band from Delaney & Bonnie, added Duane Allman, and created Derek & The Dominoes. $60
Treehouse Records is the current incarnation of a series of storied record stores at the corner of 26th and Lyndale in south Minneapolis. After becoming Oar Folkjokeopus in 1972 it quickly emerged as the epicenter for the burgeoning 70s and 80s Twin Cities punk scene. Renamed Treehouse in 2001 after the Oar Folk manager took over the business, the store remains a staple of the Twin Cities underground/independent music community and the best source for vinyl in the state.
