KOMEDA The Genius of Komeda LP

Brilliant 1996 album by the Swedish pop band Komeda, this was issued for the first time ever on vinyl on Record Store Day 2013.  We love the record, so we got a little excited and overshot our order, leaving us with a bunch of unsold copies.  Now we're taking a loss on it for your benefit.  Highly recommended!  Regular price $25.99.

Limit one per customer, while supplies last.
Offer expires 11/30/14

The final Mats studio album, originally released in 1990, was only released on vinyl in Europe, in very limited quantity.  For many years, it was the most elusive and valuable title in their discography.  It was finally issued in the US on vinyl for Black Friday last year, and we still have some copies left.  Regular price $30.99.

Limit one per customer, while supplies last.

KOERNER, RAY & GLOVER One Foot In the Groove CD

Long out-of-print 1996 reunion CD from the legendary local folk-blues trio, produced by our own Mark Trehus!  At the time of its release, it received rave reviews as well as endorsements from the likes of Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, and Beck.

From 1999-2011, Treehouse manager Dan Cote ran a little record label called Heart of a Champion.  While he still dearly loves all of these records, many were from bands who broke up long ago, and the boxes of unsold stock in his basement will no longer sell themselves!

Choose from these titles: The Evening Rig "Hilltop Pines" 7", The Hidden Chord "Identity" 7", Eleni Mandell/Mike Gunther split 7", Little Dirt CD, Lucky Jeremy CDs (two different titles), Thunder In the Valley CD, Die Electric! CD, The Hawaii Show CD, Gost Trio CD, Arm CD.

99¢ each!

Limit one copy per title, per customer, while supplies last.
Offer expires 11/30/14

MATTHEW DE GENNARO In-Store Performance

This is short notice, but Treehouse is very excited to host an intimate in-store performance by Matthew De Gennaro on Monday night.

De Gennaro has a couple of releases on Soft Abuse, a label run by our very own Chris Berry, so we'll let Chris take it from here:

"Matthew De Gennaro got his start in the public eye creating harmonic drones in tandem with NZ underground legend Alastair Galbraith. Since then he's focused primarily on solo recordings that he writes, records & (largely) self-publishes from his home - a converted 19th c. schoolhouse - in rural Michigan.

Soft Abuse released what will likely be his masterpiece (no offense MDG! -ed.),
Chuang Tzu Motherfucker, last year. The out-of-time compositions could almost have come from some long lost 78s, which shouldn't discount Matthew's singular voice and particularities. The atmosphere of that record carries great heft, & his playing on a whole host of instruments (viol, guitar, organ, etc.) really shines.

The man does not tour, really, but has made a few appearances in Minneapolis/Saint Paul in the last year, most recently at the Old Familiar Chime festival at the Turf Club. As luck would have it Matthew is passing through again out of the blue & so Treehouse has welcomed him for a low-key Monday night performance at the store. This is free & all ages & we'll have copies of much of his catalog - CDs, LPs and cassettes - on hand for purchase. Begins promptly at 6:30. Hope to see you there!"

DUR-DUR BAND Meet and Greet!

Dur-Dur Band were sensations in 1980s Mogadishu, a party band that fused synth-pop, funk, afrobeat, disco & more. The band crept into western listeners' consciousness thanks to the blog/label Awesome Tapes from Africa, who reissued their 1987 album Volume 5 last year. The group became inactive in the early '90s. Many of the band's members fled Somalia during the country's civil war. Several ended up in the U.S., including the group's core, Sahra Dawo and Abdinur Daljir, who now reside in Columbus, Ohio.

Their show at The Cedar Cultural Center on November 14 marks their first-ever performance in America! Dur-Dur Band will follow that historic show by joining us at Treehouse on Saturday, November 15 for a special "meet and greet" appearance! Come hang out, pick up a sale-priced copy of Volume 5 on LP or CD, get autographs and pictures, and have a good time hanging out with these legends of African disco-funk!
